Xapchyk
Xapchyk is a multi-instrumental experimental
improvisation trio from Portland, Oregon. Trio members David Morgan,
Kyle Stant & Jerry Soga formed Xapchyk in 2016 after several
informal sessions at each others' homes, developing a common bond within
the realm of free improvisation. Unstructured, unplanned conversations
by way of the use of traditional western and ethnic instruments, as well
as unconventional found objects and hand-made instruments.
Pronounced "harchuk," the name is derived from a Tuvan rattle made of dried bull scrotum and sheep knuckle bones.
